What kinds of photos do you prefer taking, those of models that you don't know all that well or friends and people that you know more personally? What does one type of photography offer verses another?
I definitely prefer working with people I’ve met before, but the need for different faces outweighs the need for comfort. I feel like I appear pretty together and calm most of the time (I make an effort), but meeting new people does cause me anxiety, and especially in this context. Also, the more comfortable a model is, the better she will photograph, and the more comfortable I am, the more I can concentrate on technical aspects of the shoot. The best models are those whom you can meet for the first time and immediately feel comfortable with, and I try hard to be that kind of photographer as well. So while my subject doesn’t have to be my friend, he or she has to have a pleasant, friendly demeanor with me in order for the shoot to produce the best possible results. But in general, photographing my friends is always easier and more relaxing while photographing experienced models is generally more productive.
Thanks for your question, man!
